My collection, AZALEA, is inspired by the historic homes of New Orleans and Charleston. I was drawn to the attention to detail, skillful construction, vibrant colors, and lush gardens that define these houses. They embody a timeless Southern elegance that I sought to capture in this collection.
Architectural elements informed both the structure and detailing of the garments. Intricate design features found on the homes inspired many of the collection’s smaller details, while the color palette references Charleston’s iconic Rainbow Row. The long, narrow proportions of the historic houses influenced the silhouettes, resulting in structured, boxy coats and elongated shapes. Each look incorporates multiple layers and a translucent element, emphasizing craftsmanship and construction as well as a kind of feminine refinement.
